Care & Materials
SUN RAY pieces are made using a considered selection of materials, chosen for their beauty, presence, and suitability for everyday wear. This page outlines the materials we work with and how to care for them over time.
Materials
Stones
SUN RAY pieces are crafted using natural stones, each shaped by time, earth, and chance. Variations in tone, texture, and form are to be expected — quiet imperfections that speak to their origin. In keeping with the philosophy of wabi-sabi, we honour the quiet beauty found in imperfection. We believe it is these unique details that give each piece its soul.
In some cases, stones may be lightly colour enhanced to bring out their natural character.
Cultured Freshwater Pearls
We use cultured freshwater pearls, valued for their soft lustre and organic form. Each pearl is unique, with natural variations in shape, surface, and tone. These characteristics are inherent to pearls and are part of their quiet beauty.
Unlike uniform, machine-perfect finishes, freshwater pearls carry subtle irregularities that reflect their natural origin and the time taken to form.
Metal Components
Our pieces are finished using refined materials selected for longevity and everyday wear. These may include 14k gold-filled, sterling silver, and plated components. Each finish is chosen to complement the overall form of the piece.
Over time, metal finishes may develop a natural patina — a reflection of wear, environment, and personal use.
Care
To preserve the beauty and longevity of your SUN RAY piece, we recommend the following care guidelines:
-
Avoid prolonged exposure to water, including swimming, showering, or bathing
-
Remove jewellery before applying perfumes, oils, or lotions
-
Store pieces individually in a soft pouch when not in use
-
Avoid contact with harsh chemicals or abrasive surfaces
Natural Variation
Each SUN RAY piece is one of a kind. Variations in tone, texture, shape, and form are not considered flaws, but defining features — a reminder of the natural origin of the materials and the human hand behind each piece. Much like us, it is these subtle differences that give character, depth, and lasting beauty.
